Erwin van Krey is inspired by an eclectic mix of sources based on ‘found footage’ such as photos from magazines and folders, that feed his artistic imagination. Drawing from a diverse range of sources, van Krey reimagines and transforms imagery into a distinctive and deeply personal visual language, where the layering of meaning is just as significant as the layering of materials. His paintings, often featuring bold black-and-white photographic images against vibrant backgrounds, confront themes of fear, violence, power, and the burdens of history.
The artist has been invited to many exhibitions. His work is in private collections in Europe and overseas.
